Great Beginnings Montessori School offers a toddler, preschool and kindergarten program for children ages two through six. The school is open from 7:45 am to 3:15 pm, Monday - Friday. From 3:15 - 5:30, afterschool is offered Monday - Thursday.

Great Beginnings is dedicated to the physical, cognitive and social development of the child.  We provide a carefully planned, stimulating environment, that will help children develop the foundational habits, attitudes, skills and ideas which are essential for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning, social integration, and emotional well-being.

Great Beginnings is a child-centered community.  Children learn from others and help others learn in our multi-aged classrooms.  They learn social interaction and courtesy, responsibility for caring for their environment, and develop awareness of the rights and needs of the other people in the classroom.  The school is a thriving community where children are treated with respect and dignity and learn to treat others in the same way.  Each child works and develops at their own individual pace.  The carefully planned environment is designed to facilitate maximum independence in learning and exploration for the child.  There are a wide variety of activities available for the child to select with ample opportunities for physical movement through individual lessons, small group and large group activities.

Application Process

We are a Full School Member of the American Montessori Society, and our teachers are all certified professionals with advanced degrees.

Our process for admissions is as follows:

1.  Please call to schedule a tour of our school.  Our tours are for individual families on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 9:30am. We look forward to meeting you. For some prospective families your first visit to the school, you may want to arrange to come without your child so you can have focused time to talk to our staff and learn about our program.  For others that need to bring your child along on the tour, please help us keep classroom distractions to a minimum as we want to honor and protect the work period of our current students.

2.  After your tour and reviewing our school information, an application form may be filled out and returned to Great Beginnings Montessori School, 100 Springhill Lane, Bozeman, MT 59715 or fax 406.586.3411.

3.  Once your application has been processed and your child is accepted into our program (we have an opening) a one time non-refundable application fee of $100.00 will be required.

4.  You will then be contacted by your child's teacher to set-up a half hour, one-on-one introduction into the classroom.

Applying to Great Beginnings

Because Montessori education is based on three-year cycles, we suggest that families plan for their child to attend a minimum of two years to obtain the best results of the program. Admission is based on space availability and determination by the parent and teachers that a child is ready for the preschool experience. Priority for enrollment is given to continuing students.

Fee and Program Schedule

Private education represents a financial investment for a family. With this in mind, we attempt to keep our tuition as low as possible by assigning only those costs directly related to education. Each spring, the next school year's tuition rates are determined based upon our annual costs to run the school. Tuition includes AMS affiliation, insurance, and extracurricular classes.
