Great Beginnings' mission is to be an exemplary and philanthropic Montessori community that educates children, encourages critical thinking, instills a joy for lifelong learning and nurtures responsible and respectful citizens.

Our school also provides excellent environmental education to promote an understanding of the interconnectedness of the natural world, including the care for something other than ourselves, and the mindfulness of a larger world.

Mother's Day Celebration

For the mom, or the mom-like figure, in your child's life. Please join us on Friday, May 10th between 11:45 - 1:00 to celebrate sunshine and moms. We invite you to bring a picnic lunch and blanket, and share a meal outdoors with your child. Both campuses.

Raptor Center: Tuesday, May 29th. All children and families invited to the Springhill campus for a program between 10:30 - 11:30am. Weather-permitting, they will give their program outside. Otherwise, we will plan for a back-up in the Friendship Room. All families are welcome, even if your child does not normally attend on Tuesday.

Foothills: Please note that we will be transporting your children with the shuttle!

Gallatin Valley Farm to School educators are visiting our school on Wednesday, June 6th. Come join us in a belated Earth Day celebration with a visit from BOB, a school bus turned mobile greenhouse, which will travel to both campuses to teach students about science, nutrition, sustainable agriculture, and environmental stewardship. BOB's visit will provide students with the opportunity to plant their own starters, explore the inner workings of a mobile greenhouse, learn how to compost, and much more!
Parents are invited to attend with their children.

Note: This is the last-day of classes for the 2018/19 school year.

End-of Year Celebration: Thursday, June 7th (no classes)

Ceremony: Please join us at the Foothill campus for an outdoor (weather-permitting) end-of-year celebration. The children have prepared a beautiful event, compete with songs and a graduation ceremony for our kindergartners. Please bring a dish to share, as there will be time afterwards for an outdoor picnic and play on the lawn.

After our graduation ceremony, please join us for an afternoon outdoors. We have rented the Window Rock cabin, a private forest service cabin up Hyalite Canyon. It has a beautiful outdoor space, trails for nature walks, and a wonderful environment for our families to enjoy the sunshine. Please pack a picnic for your family and we hope you can join us anytime between 2:30pm and 6:30pm. We plan to have a campfire with s'mores at 5:00pm.

The drive takes about 45 minutes from the Springhill campus, and the cabin is on the far side of the lake. We will have a welcome sign and the gate will be open. Last year, we had many families join us in the rain, so we've got some shelter available this year! Camping isn't allowed at the Window Rock cabin, so if you decide to stay the night, there are campsites available at Langhor campground. You can reserve these ahead of time.

Directions from Bozeman: From Bozeman, MT: Drive south on S. 19th Ave. for about 7 miles. Turn left onto Hyalite Canyon Road FS 62. Drive about 12.7 miles to the Window Rock Cabin access road and gate on the right (west) side of the road. Continue past the gate for about 200 meters to Window Rock Cabin.

Camping with GBMS families: 6/8 - 6/10 Plan for the best play-date ever, and kick the summer off right! Our school has reserved an entire loop of campsites at Langhor campground (sites 005, 006 and 007 from Friday, June 8th - Sunday, June 10th) just for our families. If you are interested in staying , please let us know in the office and we will get you the reservation information. Each site holds 8 people and 2 vehicles, so you can easily share with one of our families!
